saw my psychiatrist
and asked her for a pill
to change me
into a different person
not entirely
but someone fearless
minus OCD twitches
or fractious phobias
we laughed about that of course
talked about my highs and lows
and the occasional sideways . . .
stress on the job . . .
how the writing is going . . .
and all the while I'm still
longing for that pill
